Raw Compact

Privacy.

This product website is operated for Raw Compact by Brightbox Studios Inc., Canada. It presents the software, its development scope and recorded demonstrations.

This website

The site has no sign-up forms, file uploads, advertising scripts or third-party analytics tags. Purchases happen on Gumroad’s own site. It does not accept or process your camera footage. Pages, artwork and the product film are served by the website host.

Your browser sends ordinary web requests to retrieve those assets. The hosting service may receive request information such as an IP address. This website and the app downloads and update checks are hosted on Cloudflare Pages; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

The direct app’s current development design

The details below describe the Raw Compact app downloaded from this website.

Selected camera footage is processed on your Mac. The app keeps local workflow information such as chosen file/output locations, saved queues, history and thumbnails to support processing and session recovery. The licensing requests do not contain camera footage or file paths.

Licence activation and checks

Licences are sold by Gumroad and checked by the Raw Compact licence service, hosted on Cloudflare. When you activate, the app sends your licence key to that service, which asks Gumroad whether the key belongs to a current, paid purchase of Raw Compact. The app also sends a public key created by your Mac’s Secure Enclave; the matching private key never leaves your Mac and signs later checks and deactivation, so a licence can’t be moved by copying files.

The licence service stores a one-way hash of your licence key and of your purchase email, Gumroad’s sale and customer references, your Mac’s public key and the times of activations and checks. It does not store your licence key, email address, name, computer name or Mac serial number. As with other network requests, Cloudflare can receive the connection’s IP address and ordinary request information.

The app stores its activation record in your Mac’s Keychain, including the key and a signed authorization from the licence service. After a successful check the app works up to seven days offline; moving a licence to another Mac needs an online deactivation first.

Checkout, payment, receipts and licence-key delivery are handled by Gumroad and involve customer and order information. See Gumroad’s privacy policy.

Updates and external links

On first launch the app asks whether to check for updates automatically. If you agree, it checks about once a day, sending the app and updater versions; you can turn this off in Settings, and Check for Updates works on request either way. The distribution host can receive the IP address and ordinary request information. System profiling is off.

Opening an external support, purchase or technical-LUT link in your browser is subject to that destination’s own privacy practices.
